Concert Review: Sluttony Graduation Celebration in Santa Cruz
"It was an amazing way to end our time in Santa Cruz" - Nina (guitarist of Sluttony)
The Catalyst in Santa Cruz was a sold out show with the line being out the door and down the street right when doors opened. First opener of the night, Trash Day, took the stage with music that brought the house alive. Everyone in the venue had created one giant mosh pit and the energy just kept bigger and higher with every song they played. The second band that performed, Trestles, made sure everyone was ready for Sluttony to take the stage. A Santa Cruz native band, Trestles rocked the show with crowd surfing and made sure that everybody that walked through the venue doors came in dancing and smiling.
The moment everyone has been waiting for, Sluttony took the stage. An all femme rock band based in Santa Cruz put on a show like no other. Made up by Sabine (drummer), Caroline (bassist) , Nina (guitarist) and Hannah (lead singer). The audience was seen looking up onto the stage with sparkles in their eyes, smiles on their faces as they prepared for the first song to start. Sluttony put on an immaculate show full of crowd surfing, head banging, mosh pits, and more. The audience was truly insane and they made sure that all of downtown Santa Cruz could hear.
This show was not just a concert but a celebration. Filled with friends and family and even strangers who became family. No matter who you were, how you dress, or whatever it is, everyone was welcomed and celebrated. It truly felt like home with everyone dancing with each other, screaming the lyrics to one another and back at the band. What a way to have their final show in Santa Cruz. An end of an era as Sluttony makes their way to Los Angeles and we can't wait to see what this new journey brings and all the new projects to come. Congratulations to the members of Sluttony who graduated from UC Santa Cruz.
