Saratoga, CA —— July 23rd, 2024 —— Tony, Emmy, and Grammy-winning actor and singer Ben Platt took the stage in Saratoga, California at the beautiful Mountain Winery. With a sold out show, there were people smiling, dressed in his merch just waiting for the show to start. It started with the amazing Brandy Clark. Who took the stage and captivated the audience with a beautiful set.
Ben started the show with two amazing songs that happen to be the first two songs of his album, Right Kind of Reckless and All American Queen.Just with the first two songs of the evening, Ben left the audience in awed with his amazing vocal range. The award winning singer got on a deeper level by opening to the crowd, telling personal stories of how he grew up queer, going through a break up, and even experiencing unrequited love just before he sang the beautiful song Andrew.
With dancing at their seats, clapping, screaming, and even a few tears in the audience, Ben Platt knew what they wanted every second. Such as performing I Wanna Love You but I Don’t from his 2021 album Reverie and even performing his 2019 hit single Rain. While performing on stage, Ben showcased his talents and demonstrated his incredible experience as a broadway singer. With hitting notes that leave you both speechless and screaming with excitement.
As the show continued, well into the middle, it started to become more intimate. With Ben’s bandmates sitting with him, as the lights made it feel like we were all sitting around a campfire. Ben continued with the most heart-wrenching, popular song Grow as We Go. With over 100 million streams, the Saratoga crowd proved to be part of those streams by singing the song while Ben pointed the mic to the audience, had tears in their eyes, and even hugging the people who they came with.
Throughout the entire night, Ben fed on the energy that they crowd was giving. Dancing, smiling, screaming with excitement. With paying tribute James Taylor with covering the song Your Smiling Face, Joni Mitchell by performing River, and Liza Minnelli with the song Maybe This Time. Just before he dedicated Before I Knew You to his fiancé Noah Galvin.
Time flies when you are having fun. The stage lights started dim, and Ben thanked everyone involved with this truly astounding performance. Right on cue the audience were out of their seats clapping, cheering, screaming with excitement confirming that a Tuesday in July was well spent as Ben waved and danced off stage.
